What Are The Lasting Effects of Drugs on an Addict?

When someone is addicted to drugs he typically has very few friends anymore. That’s the case even if he or she was formerly very popular. By the time he has gotten to the stage of addiction he has alienated so many people that they no longer trust him or they just find it undesirable to be around him.

A lot of times when people “blow up” very easily or get overly intense people get the idea that others are afraid or intimidated by them, when in reality, it just makes it hard to be around someone that has no control of their own emotions.

When a person has become addicted to drugs his personality can actually be altered. It is not a short-term thing, the changes will be everlasting. Certainly, they will be more intense at times, like when the person is high on drugs but the alteration is one that pervades their entire personality.http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

Drugs could evidently change the attitude from their original personality to one covertly harboring hostilities and hatreds he does not permit to show on the surface. While this may not be true all the time, it does show a link between drugs and increasing difficulties with crime, production and the modern breakdown of social and industrial culture. That they also result in the breakdown of mental alertness and ethical fiber is all too evident.

The drug addict can actually produce a biochemical personality that causes him to become stupid, blank, forgetful, delusive, irresponsible and in a sort of “woodenness.” He tends to be unfeeling, insensitive, unable and definitely not trustworthy, a menace to those around him really.

Drugs can age a person beyond what anybody would think possible and even when the person stops taking drugs the damage is already done, the speed of the degeneration has just slowed down.

While I’ve made it sound like drugs are a death sentence it doesn’t have to be that way. If the addict does nothing to deal with his situation it is a death sentence, fast or slow. Drug rehab is vital for many drug addicts or they just will not make it. Even the ones that are able to drop the drug habit have had their lives changed to a very large degree unless they do something to handle it.

If a person is still on drugs I would always recommend drug rehab at a good facility (as I have said before in other articles on this blog, many are not good.) If a person is fortunate enough to have kicked the habit by themselves a drug detox is still very important because drug residues have been lodged in their fat chttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifells and they will continue to be affecting that person until they are gotten rid of via detox.
